Twitter: Beauty in Simplicity

In this social media dominated era, companies like Facebook are continually adding new technology, expanding features and essentially trying to be everything to everybody. However, Twitter has embraced an unconventional ideology in an attempt to appeal to the masses: simplicity. It's this simplicity that makes Twitter so attractive to millions of people. For businesses, if done right, Twitter's minimalism presents an opportunity to take businesses to the next level.

Because Twitter's learning curve is so low, it makes the process of starting up much easier and saves ample amounts of time that can be used elsewhere. As with any marketing tactic, you must first identify your target demographic, and subsequently cater to the needs of it. After a target audience is determined, Twitter's user-friendly interface allows you to follow the relevant audience. For example, if your company offers services in the fashion industry, consider following fashion magazines, icons, companies, amateurs, and so forth basically, you want to follow those industry influencers that you can forge relationships with and ultimately expand your Twitter presence. A simple search will open the doors for your marketing campaign on Twitter.

You must ask yourself: why is your business on Twitter in the first place? If your primary motive is increasing the amount of visitors to your company website, then you've got the wrong idea. The Twitter community values interaction with real people. If all your Tweets are only sales pitches to your website, you will not build a strong and credible reputation on Twitter. Of course some people will be following your links, but you will have a difficult time expanding the reach of your company and tap into new segments of the desired market.

Because of Twitter's simplicity, it can be a vital tool to expand the reach of your company to the proper demographic. Its minimalism is advantageous and requires much less effort to learn, as opposed to other networks like Facebook. With the proper strategy, the opportunities are endless and you can execute a successful Twitter campaign while still concentrating on other important aspects of your business.
